<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Brain metastases are the most common type of intracranial tumor formation. Modern treatment of brain metastases is a complex problem and traditionally patients with central nervous system lesions have a poor prognosis. However, advances in systemic drug therapy, advances in radiation treatments, and a multidisciplinary approach that individualizes the differential approach to each patient have significantly improved survival rates in this group of patients. Surgical resection plays an important role in the treatment of brain metastases. In this article, we discuss the evolving role of surgery in the treatment of this diverse group of patients with brain metastases.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>метастазы в головной мозг</kwd><kwd>хирургия</kwd><kwd>резекция единым блоком</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>brain metastases</kwd><kwd>surgery</kwd><kwd>en bloc resection</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Jemal A., Siegel R., Ward E. et al.
